Went to a new local park today and spotted this critter casually sunning itself despite the number of people walking by. I didn't see any of its friends, but no doubt they're in the water there somewhere.

Anyone have dueling hurricanes on their 2020 bingo card?
It's 2020, so I guess two hurricanes tag-teaming the Gulf Coast should come as no surprise.
Frogs are not my friends
Terrorist frog trolls are certainly not the worst of what 2020 had brought so far but this feels personal. 🙂
Silver linings
My husband and I were out for one of our now daily walks in our neighborhood the other day and couldn't help but notice how many of our neighbors we were seeing perhaps for the first time (we've lived in this house for more than 10 years). We've commiserated with the man desperately trying to … Continue reading Silver linings
Rust Life
I saw this in the parking lot at the grocery store recently and I confess I fully appreciated the owner's sense of humor - the play on the ubiquitous #saltlife prominently featured on cars and trucks here, the "Rat-rod" and "Rust Bucket" emblazoned on the tailgate, and the "Yes it's real rust and I'm not … Continue reading Rust Life
Feats of strength
We stopped to watch this performance at Disney's Animal Kingdom on a recent visit and I was blown away by the sheer amount of strength it would take to do the various formations in their routine. This one though....unbelievable! Notice that the man in blue is supporting himself with just the palm of his hand … Continue reading Feats of strength
Miami in January
Last weekend, we took a trip to Miami (with a brief side trip to Key Largo and Islamorada) to visit some of my family. It's been years since I have been down to South Florida and I'm not sure why. It's a pretty good drive for us, but nonetheless, we were way overdue for a … Continue reading Miami in January
Giant Florida Gator
This image of a huge gator has gone viral over the last few days and I've seen at least one reference to it as a "Florida dinosaur". It does look rather prehistoric. At first, I thought it was fake - I mean, look at the size of that monster! But apparently it's real. Since this … Continue reading Giant Florida Gator
Fog
We came out of the hockey arena a few nights ago to this view of fog shrouding the tops of downtown Tampa, which was cool yet slightly creepy and oppressive at the same time.
Caution: Live Alligators
Spotted this yesterday on my way out to lunch with my mom and daughter. I've lived in Florida all my life and I've never seen one of these trucks. I knew we had wildlife trappers but I didn't know folks could specialize in gator trapping. Live and learn!
