As indecipherable as I sometimes find the German language, I also find that it often has just the right word for something where there isn’t an equivalent English word.
Weltschmerz is really the best word I can think of to describe how I currently feel as a result of the last few weeks here in the US.
Weltschmerz literally means world-pain or world weariness. Wikipedia defines it as “a mood of weariness or sadness about life arising from the acute awareness of evil and suffering”. Yup, that describes things rather perfectly.
