I remember coming across a copy of If Life is a Bowl of Cherries, What am I Doing in the Pits?” that was sitting on my aunt’s coffee table when I was maybe 8 years old. 
Being a voracious reader, I picked it up and read the whole thing. Even though some of the humor went over my head, Erma had a way of saying things that made me laugh out loud. I went on to read many of her other books, making me possibly the only elementary school-aged Erma fan.
Here’s to Erma, who knew how to tell things as they were and, more importantly, how to find humor in just about anything. She also understood the power of having a dream and the feeling of vulnerability when exposing that dream to the scrutiny of others.
Be courageous and share your dream – that’s the only way to make it real.
